£4,500 raised by musician Joe Solo and Hull Help For Refugees

Today something amazing happened! We received a donation of £4,500 from our friends at Hull Help For Refugees! This was raised SINGLE HANDEDLY by Joe Solo, a musician and activist who had a brilliant fundraising campaign, running a mile every day for 169 days to raise money to support refugees! We are blown away by his incredible dedication.

During his awesome 24 week #mileaday4refugees campaign, at one point Joe’s back was so bad he was slowed to a walk but he didn’t give up, and near the end when he was struggling local friends stepped in (literally) to walk some of the miles to ensure the challenge didn’t fail. This amazing can-do attitude is just one of the reasons we love individuals like Joe and the team at Hull Help for Refugees so much.

We will be using the funds raised to buy sleeping bags and good winter boots to get the refugees through the current freezing winter months. With so many evictions happening, and the unforgiving winter temperatures making life on the streets unbearable, it is crucial for us to be able to distribute winter clothing and layers to the refugees we support in northern France.
