A Touching Letter

This week we received a letter from a lady who had seen our ‘Letters to Calais’ (https://care4calais.org/childrens-letters/) project and wanted us to pass this on to the children in the camp. We were so touched by it, we wanted to share it with you.

Dear Children

You are probably used to receiving letters from other children. Well, this is different, because I am a Granny, so I do hope you will still bother to read it.

I have been wondering and wondering what I could do to let you know that even though I have never met you, I think about you all of the time. Then, I read on the Care4Calais website that school children here in England write letters to you, so I thought I would too.

The reason that I think about you all of the time, is because I am absolutely amazed by how brave you are, to have come such a long way and to have put up with so much. If you were my grandchildren I would be very, very proud and I hope with all of my heart that you find the home and the happiness you deserve. Some people might say that you are only children, but to me and I think to many others, your courage and your resilience make you heroes.

If any of you would like to write back to me and tell me a little about yourselves, that would be lovely. However, I do understand if you don’t as I know you have far more important things to do.

I send you lots of wishes, and I send you lots of love too
