Acts of kindness, every day.

Acts of kindness, every day.

Each day in the camp we see acts of kindness, selflessness or generosity which make volunteering such a special thing to do:
This C4C volunteer, 80 year old actor Phyllip Hughes, was approached by a recent arrival in the camp and asked for shoes. It was obvious he had just arrived as his footware was in shreds: they told a story of a long harrowing journey without the need for words.

Care4Calais did a distribution of shoes recently but there are none left and there is no money to buy more. Phyllip spontaneously said to the man ‘Take mine.’The expression of amazement and gratitude on the face of this man as Phyllip removed his own shoes to give to this stranger will stay with me for ever.

About Care4Calais

Care4Calais was founded by a group of volunteers with the sole aim of supporting the people of the Calais refugee camps, providing fresh meals, warm clothing, heating and important legal and medical support.

We are not politicians – we are people like you who simply believe that every human has the right to be treated in a fair and dignified way.
