Some of the best guys you will ever meet.

Some of the best guys you will ever meet.

Everyday we have the privilege of working alongside with this fabulous team of refugees who volunteer with us in the camp. Without them we would never achieve as much as we do. To introduce them:

Tariiq is 26 and from Afghanistan. He has been volunteering with us for five months and pretty much knows our entire camp operation so we depend on him a lot. His younger cousin, a minor who he looks after, also lives in the camp. Tariq is applying for asylum in France and intends to study for an International Relations Masters degree. A clever guy!

Majd is 28 and from Syria. He has been helping us for two months with translation and distribution. He loves everybody and is an all round superstar. He was DJing at a party in the camp last Friday night and between you and me is not a bad dancer.

Ismael is 32 and from Syria. He has been working with us for 5 months. He does one of our hardest jobs – the gas distributions – but then he does have a black belt in karate. He completed two years compulsory military service with the Syrian army and is a graduate of the academy of mechanical engineers.

Mostafa is 22 and from Libya. He has been volunteering with us for three months and from his first day – the day of the terrible fire in the camp – it was clear he had a cool head on his shoulders and is a real leader. He speaks Arabic, English and German fluently and is learning French. His love is driving sports cars and his hidden talent is fixing cell phones.

Sadik is 31 and from Sudan. He is a mechanical engineer and without his skills our fleet of second hand vans would never keep running. He’s been volunteering with us for 3 months now and has the most incredible work ethic. He won’t take a day off! He says he wants to help Care4Calais because we came here to help the refugees.

Fadil is 23 and from Iraq. He has volunteered with us for 2 months full time and helps with our art and English programmes and our ticketing system. In Iraq he studied law and his family are in Chelsea.

Mohammed is 23 and from Syria. He has been helping us for two weeks. He can’t wait to get back to making wedding dresses like he did back at home.

Jack is 23 and from Afghanistan. He started volunteering with us two weeks ago. He speaks five languages and wants to become a teacher.

This group of amazing men are invaluable members of the team. Without this incredible partnership, we would not be able to carry on the work we do. We feel extremely honoured to work along side them and to call them our friends.

Thank you all for your endless commitment and energy. We love you all!
