Bringing Christmas to refugees in the UK

Bringing Christmas to refugees in the UK

Across the country, our volunteers have been sharing sparkling Christmas celebrations with refugees, and having some truly wonderful, festive times together. It’s an inspiring way to welcome people to our country, and show them some of our culture and customs.
Volunteers did so much hard work to make these things happen, and we saw it make the day for refugees. The list is as long as Santa’s!
In Central London we organised three trips to Winter Wonderland, and one to the Royal Albert Hall. We also delivered presents to children, and in North London provided a special Sudanese lunch for refugees in three hotels, and gave out gifts.
Our Whitechapel team made presents for Christmas eve, and our Old Street team took people on a tour of London Christmas lights.
In West Yorkshire we held a Christmas party for refugees, hosted by our wonderful friends at Chapel FM, and Leeds NEU provided everyone with tote bags. Santa also took bags of gifts for children to a big hotel, which they loved.
In Reading and Basingstoke we brought Christmas to adults and children in hotels and dispersal houses, helped byThe Cowshed, St Mary’s Prep School, Abbey Baptist Church, Reading and Lifespring Church. L’Oréal donated 500 wonderful gifts packs!
In Folkestone we organised an a party with a lucky dip from Santa, and elsewhere in Kent volunteers collected and gave out gifts.
In Manchester we held a wonderful party and gave out gifts for 150 children.
In Wimbledon, we distributed 150 gift boxes to people in hotels, including more than 30 gift boxes for children.
In Stansted we provided an amazing spread of food and presents for residents in one of the hotels, and Father Christmas made a special appearance!
In Grays we held a Christmas party for four of the families, with everyone receiving a gift.
Thank you, everyone, for everything you’ve done this festive season, and all through the preceding year. Merry Christmas and welcome one and all to the UK!
