Can you help refugees in West Yorkshire?

Over the past month we have received several messages from refugees in West Yorkshire who are struggling. A few guys in Huddersfield tell us they have no warm clothes and no real idea of where they are. Some were taken there straight from a detention centre and don’t know who to contact for help. Many don’t even have phones.

They really need the comfort of friendship and support right now. Just visiting people for a chat can already make such a difference. If you live in West Yorkshire and could lend a helping hand to refugees in Huddersfield, Leeds or Wakefield, please get in touch at [email protected]

Our West Yorkshire volunteers have done a fabulous job so far. They have worked hard to collect warm clothes, link up refugees with lawyers and visit their hotels regularly. They have even started going on weekly morning walks together to make sure people don’t feel too lonely or frustrated stuck inside the hotel all day. We are also lucky to have the incredible help of City of Sanctuary locally.

But the more refugees arrive, the harder it gets to support everyone. If you live in the area and have a few hours to spare every week to help people in great need, we would love to hear from you.
