Celebrating Refugee Week

Celebrating Refugee Week

Refugee Week, starting tomorrow, is an amazing chance to celebrate the creativity, energy and strength of refugees, and the contributions they make to cultures around the world.

Refugees and asylum seekers tell us that sometimes these very words can feel like labels that suggest weakness, frailty and exhaustion.

And that those labels tell only a small part of their story. For in making their journeys they discover inner resilience, determination and a new understanding of themselves and the world.

We’re in awe of the fortitude and kindness shown by refugees in the face of their suffering, and consider it an honour to help them, and welcome them to the UK.

This week we’ll be posting powerful stories of people seeking asylum here, as well as former refugees who have made the UK their home. If you want to take part, you can start at refugeeweek.org.uk
