This week was the start of the Muslim festival of Ramadan. So, with the help of some fabulous donors, we purchased a whopping 2,000 kg of dates.
It’s been a bit of a challenge getting them out all around the UK, with volunteers filling cars and driving miles, and others like Jack (pictured here) riding his bike to those in dispersed accommodation. But today it was worth it.
One of the guys sent us some photos of the dates the accommodation provider gave them. They look dried up and hard. He said they were dates ‘from BC’. They were so much happier to get the ones that we sent.
Sometimes small things matter, particularly when times are hard. A million thanks to the many volunteers who have stepped up (and driven and cycled) to get this little treat to those who need it this month.
