Distributing aid matters

Distributing aid matters. But the barriers in the way can sometimes seem insurmountable. From police intimidation to broken down vans to lack of small sizes to not enough drivers.

The insecurity and dangers refugees in Calais face every day. Context out of our control.

But today, despite the barriers and context, we delivered hoodies to men in t-shirts they have worn for weeks. Socks to men who only have one or zero pairs. Tea and snacks to share in solidarity and with smiles.

We’re proud of the small amount we did today and of the fabulous volunteers that just keep on walking through our doors. And what matters to us just as much is the men themselves. Patience. Kindness. Gratitude; we are blown away by how having experienced such atrocities, they can still show such warmth.

We are open 365 days a year and we will we will keep on going despite the (many!) barriers. So more people have clothes to keep them warm. Food to keep their sustenance. And time spent with them to see their smiles.

Well done today team. And thank you SO MUCH to everyone who supports us. We need you and so do they. It’s not over yet.
