Distributing new joggers to refugees in Calais

This afternoon we gave out more than 300 pairs of new joggers to refugees in Calais. Joggers are really popular, so there was a great atmosphere with people laughing and joking – happy to receive their new, comfortable trousers.
I was shocked to notice that a couple of people were still wearing the joggers from the last time we distributed them over two months ago. Having to wear the same pair everyday, and living outside, these were now muddy and starting to get holes in them, so I was relieved we were giving more.
“It’s good for me to have new clothes,” a guy called Abu from Sudan told me. “If you go into the town, you look like other people. They don’t look at you in a bad way.”
Right now we’re giving out around 300 items every Saturday, which is a big demand to manage. It’s great to be able to provide clean clothes for people who have no other way of getting them. No one should have to walk around in dirty clothes with holes in them. Thank you to all the donors who made this distribution possible.
We can fully clothe a refugee for just £13. You can help at Care4Calais.org/donate
