Families should be together – do we need Europe to tell us that?

There are children who we know right now in Calais who have close family members in the U.K. Currently they have the legal right to join those family members. Do we want to see that right removed? In some cases the rest of the family may be dead. Where else should that child be but with its father or sister?
This government want to remove the right for families torn apart by conflict to be reunited. I do not believe that is what the people of our country want. Family life is the cornerstone of strong communities and wherever possible we want to see children with their parents.
The rest of Europe would give these children the right to be reunited with their family. Do we want to be the one country that keeps them apart?
