A court in northern France has finally ordered the authorities to lift their ban on distributing food to refugees.
These bans have been in place for two years and prevented us from giving food to hungry people in all but a few small areas – areas that kept changing, making our operation very difficult.
The court heard that although a La Vie Active single French state-endorsed agency, was allowed to distribute food and drink, in reality it did not distribute enough food for refugees to get three meals a day. And that meant they were going hungry.
Care4Calais is the main supplier of food packs in Calais, and wIth weather conditions becoming colder and harsher, it is vitally important that we get food to people who need it, so we are very relieved by the judgement.
Care4Calais’ carefully-chosen food packs are incredibly important to refugees, and the essential items can be combined by people from different cultures to make meals that they enjoy. But providing these week in week out is our biggest single cost and we desperately need your help to keep supplying them.
We can deliver a food pack to a family for just £10, but we do this every day of the week. To help please go to care4calais.org/food/
