Fire Brigades Union Volunteer in Calais

This week we have been absolutely delighted to welcome members of the Fire Brigades Union to Calais to volunteer with us. Not only did they bring donations in a fire engine they took it to Dunkirk to brighten the day of many children there.
This is the report from one of their members:
“Returning from one of the most inspirational, humbling and emotional experiences of my life. Two days spent in Calais and Dunkirk distributing aid, rendering assistance and generally being a shoulder of compassion to some of the most vulnerable people who need it the most. Men, women and children who have fled persecution, war and fear, who have embarked on journeys of months and in some cases years to be turned away time after time by societies that, if they really wanted to, could solve this problem in a heartbeat. Tales of families that have been separated. That just want to be reunited. It has already been said that the only difference between them and us is where we were born. I am so privileged to be a part of the FBU’s international solidarity….. solidarity that doesn’t recognise borders and is simply there for those who face a daily struggle for the very things that we take for granted❤️x”
