First time at the beach for mum and baby
I recently met a young Iranian couple with an 11-month-old baby girl who had travelled on foot from Croatia while the mother was pregnant. I invited them to meet me by the beach so I could give them some supplies like nappies, baby clothes, and hygiene products and warm clothing for the parents. But little did I know I was the one who would receive the best gift of all that day…
I got to take them to the beach. Women aren’t allowed to go to the beach freely without a hijab and manteau in Iran, so this was the first time for both the mother and the baby. You should have seen their faces. In that moment all the hardships of life just melted away.
