Football kits donated for sports-lovers in Slough

One of our lovely volunteers in Slough, Katie, has been busy sourcing football kits for hotel residents in her area! Thankfully, the weekend security team at the hotel have been very supportive of the residents and helped us distribute the kits to the guys who love playing football.

We were able to provide football kits for 10 guys at the hotel who play often, heading to their local park. They are so passionate about the sport and it’s been a great way for them to make friends and keep fit. Lots of them also go running regularly. Our team have been trying to get them some football boots and sports clothes for their sessions with the hopes of setting up a team in the near future!

We rely on the generosity of our donors and volunteers to source donations like these football kits, which can really improve someone’s day when their usual routine is often monotonous and stressful. For many of those waiting for their asylum claims to be processed, joining up with others for a game of football can be a bright spot in an otherwise very difficult period of time. It’s so important for us to support the mental health of those we are working with in addition to meeting immediate material needs with regular distributions.
