Heroes of the week

People want to volunteer but often ask themselves “What can I do?, I’m busy, I can’t help much”
Let me introduce you to Barbara and Maureen.
Barbara has her own motto and motivation. “PANTS MATTER”. No matter how much I tried to convince her that we needed all sorts of clothes, she said “I’m doing pants and socks, that’s it.” Well, she proved her point. A few months down the line, and after much campaigning, Barbara as received nearly 1000 pairs of new pants and socks in her home. Not only that, our local Primark was so amazed at the number of mens’ pants she was buying each week with donations, that they are now sending us pants from their head office!
Maureen is an inspiration to us all. She is 93 and loves sewing. A widower and a refugee herself, she makes baby quilts for the mothers in our hotels. Today I collected one for a lone refugee mother who has just given birth this week. I cannot wait to give it to her.
“You cant’ help everyone, but you can help someone”
Barbara and Maureen – you have made my week. Thank you for volunteering.
