Iftar dinner

Iftar dinner

While darkness marched across London this weekend there was a ray of sunshine in Calais. 35 volunteers from the fabulous Oxfordshire Refugee Solidarity joined us to cook special Iftar meals for the refugees in Calais and Dunkirk. It was a great result to make this Ramadan just a bit more bearable for those who suffer such a hard life here.

The team brought piles of halal chicken and masses of fresh fruit and veg and spent the whole two days cooking. Each night we visited two or three different groups so that as many people as possible were able to share this treat.

A fabulous team effort and a truly humbling experience to be able to share a special Iftar meal with some of the refugees. Thank you so much to all involved.

Next weekend is Eid, the end of Ramadan. To help us make this special in any small way we can please go to https://goo.gl/jmkx7A
