Meet Annie, criminology expert and admin extraordinaire
A graduate of Sociology and Criminology, Annie Griffiths has brought her forensic attention to detail to Care4Calais.
She has been in the Admin team for six months and loves it.
Every day the Care4Calais Inbox is full of inquiries about volunteering, donating and much more. It’s up to Annie and the rest of the team to make sure all those queries are answered.
Annie is great at building up personal relationships and maintaining people’s initial excitement about volunteering, thanks to her experience in the travel industry. She ensures the potential volunteers know they are in good hands, that they are getting the right information and communication.
Even while COVID-19 has provided a few extra hurdles, Annie has been brilliant at keeping volunteers on track. She reassures them about how much they are needed and that all issues in their travel have been ironed out.
Annie has never met the rest of the Admin team except by Zoom, but she says they have become like a little family. She loves their determination and flexibility. They cover for each other if something unexpected arises, and jumping in to help out in times of need.
Annie said: “I think the experience in Calais is one that you can’t get anywhere else and that encourages people to get in touch. But, as a volunteer, you couldn’t get better support – from the first email, to arriving in Calais as part of the team. I don’t think you can get a better organisation than Care4Calais for that.”
We agree, Annie! We believe the Care4Calais Admin team is the best there is!
