Merry Christmas from Calais!

Today, as we do our food distribution, we’ll be giving out Christmas gifts to the refugees here. As well as providing aid, we are also here to let refugees know that people care about them; giving them presents at Christmas and introducing them to one of our favourite traditions is a small way of saying “you are welcome here.”
It’s only small things; games, chocolate, socks (of course), treats etc. They are used to us giving them essentials like clothes and blankets – we don’t often spend money on things that are just fun. But as they often tell us, the priceless gift we bring to these cold dirty wastelands is hope, and today that will come in the form of small, brightly wrapped parcels.
We hope all of our friends and supporters out there have a wonderful day today, whatever you’re doing. But do please think of those with nothing, who on this Christmas night will be sleeping out in the cold. To help them, go to care4calais.org/donate.
