The never ending need for more tents

Yesterday evening I tried to comfort a very distressed young refugee. He couldn’t understand how the French government could provide food for them but then sanction the continuous destruction of their tents, sleeping bags and personal belongings. He had lost everything. Again. Feeling totally inadequate, I decided to try and distract him by showing him photos of my family and playing some upbeat music.
This constant removal of tents creates a never ending need. Last week when it was snowing we distributed hundreds of tents and now we are running out. Last night some of the refugees slept in the open. No tent, no sleeping bag, nothing.
Today we took them the last of our tents and some tarps because that was all we had. Without your help, we won’t be able to take any more. The temperature in Calais is dropping again and I am extremely worried.
