Delicious lunches with Refugee Community Kitchen

‘The residents we are supporting at Old Street often tell us that the food is dire at their hotel – so when one of my volunteers told me about the Refugee Community Kitchen, I got in touch with them. I asked them if they would partner with us and serve food during our clothes distributions, which we hold monthly in a local church. They agreed straight away.
Our monthly clothes distribution last month was the second time that RCK had fed everyone – the residents are so happy when they see them turn up. During the last distro, I got chatting to Janie, who’s in charge, and she made the suggestion that if the church would agree to let us use their grounds, she could start doing a weekly Saturday lunch for the residents. Last week was the start of the weekly lunches that Janie serves after we do our activities!
We are so grateful for the support from RCK in East London – this week, Giorgio Locatelli, who runs the Michelin starred Locanda Locatelli, and is a judge on Masterchef Italy, cooked for RCK to provide a lovely meal for residents!’ – Lara, Care4Calais (U.K.) volunteer
