Refugees Living In Brussels Under Desperate Conditions

This weekend in Brussels, Care4Calais’ volunteers distributed goodie bags and sleeping bags to more than 100 homeless refugees. Working in small teams to locate those who’d fled a recent clearance by authorities of their “home” in Parc Maximilien, it wasn’t long before we found many young people in immediate need.
Mostly Sudanese, they formed an orderly queue whilst joking and chatting with the team. A good sense of humour seems as important for surviving life on the streets as a sleeping bag. The goodie bags contained nuts, dried fruits, tinned fish, cereal bars, water, new socks and woolly hats.
We desperately need more donations of these items to continue our work. In particular the food items; sleeping rough, many refugees face an irregular food supply. If you can help please go to www.care4calais.org/donate
