Riot police ‘slash tents and take everything away’

‘You see the police all the time, there’s definitely a heightened presence. The riot police are brought in to conduct clearings in the sites, slash tents and take everything away. They make it so hard for the people who are living in the camps.

People have no choice but to quickly pack up and leave when they hear that the police are coming. It’s such a surreal experience of going into the camp after a police raid and seeing nobody there.

We saw a few people who had no choice but to clear all of their belongings when we arrived this morning because they were told that the police were coming to do a visit.’
