Separated from family, but this young refugee

My father is in the UK, he has claimed asylum and he has a British passport now.

My family were waiting in Afghanistan while he applied for family reunion, but it was taking so long. My mother feared for me, it is not safe for boys my age in Afghanistan. So she sent me away to try to make it to England by myself.

I managed to get to Europe and now I am here in Calais, so close to my father but still so far to go to get to him. I want to study computer science when I get to England. I love computers and I think it would be a good job to do. I miss my family, especially my mother, but I hope that when I get to UK we can all be reunited soon

– Abdullah.
