Shoes donations lift spirits in Calais

Over the weekend I was working in the warehouse as I fancied a quiet day. But actually it was one of the most inspiring days of the week. I spent time sorting through the donations that had been received.

The amount of second hand donations and brand new items where amazing. Shoes are really sought after, but what was incredible is that so many of the donations where of SUCH good quality. Time and care had obviously been taken over each and every one of the items sent. The fact that people have gone out their way to purchase things like expensive branded shoes or have taken that extra time to carefully wrap each donation, all for people they have never met. It gives me hope for the future.

Sometimes it’s the small things that mean so much, and knowing that so many people do care was a real lift to my day. Life is so hard here, and we could never do the work we do without the support of thousands of people across the UK and the world too.

Thank you so much to each and every one of you. Please know that every little thing you do will mean something to someone here, and that everything you give is so, so needed by the people we meet and talk to every day.
