“We saw many boats. We shouted, ‘Help, Help!’ We were waving and they were just passing. A helicopter came and left.”

Every one of these deaths is preventable. They are a result of policies our government, together with other European governments, chose to follow. Please be aware your voice counts. Read, share, don’t be afraid to speak out for refugees.

The first time I collected for charity I was nine years old. My school was collecting for Bernardos in our town centre. I could not help noticing that often it was those who had the least that gave the most; working men giving us £5 while well dressed women gave 20p.

Britain is not too small or poor to help. Greek fishermen with nothing have welcomed and saved lives of thousands of refugees.

“Your enemy is not the refugee, it is the politician who created the refugee.”
