We salute the unbelievable bravery of the Sudanese people in the face of brutal opposition.

Yesterday was a glorious day in Sudan, not only because of the multitude of people who took part in the protects, but also because of their unfailing commitment to non-violent resistance in the face of ruthless force. Peace still remains the centre of this amazing mass movement.

Contrast this dignity with the hypocrisy of British foreign secretary Jeremy Hunt – to tweet in support of the protests on Sunday when his government fuelled Saudi Arabia’s war in Yemen and gave it arms that it passes on to Sudan. Britain also aided the Sudanese regime with funds to “combat illegal migration”.

We pray that the courage and determination of the Sudanese people can overcome the regime if they use all their strength.
