Step up and use your strengths as a volunteer

Volunteers often find different things to specialise in. We have one in our group in Derby who concentrates on donations. She’s wonderful, and works really hard scouring all the free sites. The things she finds are amazing, but even the smallest donations matter. They can all have a huge effect.
If you give someone a pair of shoes and in their favourite colour, they’ll have the biggest smile. I know it sounds ridiculous, but it’s like you’ve made their week.
There are loads of different things you can do as a Care4Calais volunteer.
You don’t have to interact with people if you don’t want to – you can even be one of our virtual volunteers, who do things online, like enlisting asylum seekers at doctors and dentists, or putting them in touch with support groups.
