Superstar volunteer takes the lead on Calais cycle workshop

In the last two months, we have added a cycle workshop to the list of services we provide for refugees.

It’s proven very popular. Bikes provide a freedom few have when they usually walk everywhere, and this independence is treasured when relying on charities for food and clothes.

Tia Bush (pictured above) is one of our wonderful long-term volunteers who goes above and beyond to help with bikes, amongst other things. She can often be found in the warehouse dismantling old bikes to use for spare parts, or out buying any needed accessories that we don’t have.

Being fluent in both English and French, she regularly translates on Care4Calais’ behalf, all of which she takes in her stride. She can be found pottering around the warehouse before everyone else arrives, and long after everyone else has gone home.

Tia, you are a superstar. Care4Calais would not be the amazing organisation it is without people like you.
