When refugees arrive in the UK they often have nothing but the clothes on their backs, and sadly those clothes may not be adequate for a British winter. In the freezing temperatures we are experiencing right now, there are refugees walking around our towns and cities in flip-flops, sandals and thin summer coats. It’s not just cold, it’s bad for their health and dignity.
Our volunteers are working incredibly hard to collect donations and provide men, women and children with the clothes they need, and we’re so grateful to you for your donations. This week we were delighted to receive more than 350 items, including coats, shoes and other clothes, from the Finsbury Park Mosque in London. The mosque has a wonderful, warm community and this is the fourth consecutive year the people there have rushed to support refugees in winter.
This will make a huge difference to newly-arrived refugees here in the UK who are desperately in need of help during this freezing temperature, and on their behalf, we say a big thank you to the community!
