When Care4Calais started I had no idea it would continue for years. All I knew was that people who had fled terrifying circumstances back home were being left to survive in desperate conditions in Calais, and that I wanted to help – and so did many others.
Together, we’ve distributed thousands of tents, sleeping bags, clothes, and items essential to surviving cold winter nights and months of living outside. And we’ve done this respectfully and compassionately. We are on the ground meeting refugees every day – listening to their stories, responding to their needs and spending time together.
It’s incredible how much we’ve been able to do, without any support from big sponsors or government. But to keep providing this essential support to refugees, we desperately need more regular donors. Regular donations make a huge difference because they mean that when we see an urgent need, we can help immediately without needing to fund raise first. And we can keep things running in Calais through rain, snow and sun.
