The government in Eritrea took my dads life

I studied marketing and management in Eritrea because I know how important it is to be educated, but I strayed from that to follow my passion. In Asmara I retrained as a beauty therapist. I specialised in makeup, and I loved it so much. My favourite jobs would be doing bridal makeup because it is such a special day. Here is a picture of the last bridal makeup I completed.

I miss working alongside my colleagues – our salon had everything – massage, manicure pedicure, hair braiding and makeovers. When people left the salon feeling happy and beautiful that made me happy too.

My entire family fled to Ethiopia and found safety, my sister is now graduating with her degree in marketing and management too For me it was more complicated. The government in Eritrea took my dads life, and even Ethiopia isn’t a safe place for me now.

I want to continue learning – I know I have so much to learn and I want to continue my passion working in beauty in the UK
