Visiting refugees in Belgium

Visiting refugees in Belgium

This week we visited refugees sleeping rough on the streets of Brussels and Zeebrugge in Belgium. Things are hard for them there. In Brussels some winter shelters have just closed putting people back on the streets, and in Zeebrugge a local church that had been providing food has had to stop when too many people began to arrive. Many people did not even have sleeping bags and they were sleeping outside the church on the path.

We took warm clothes, sleeping bags, food, gloves and underwear. Although we took a big van full to each town we gave out everything we had.

The most striking moment of the Zeebrugee day was a man who when I asked what he needed and he said I just want food. I am so hungry just give me food I don’t want anything else. We will go back soon.
