Volunteers Visit Welcome Centres

Last week our great volunteers visited another six welcome centres in various parts of France. It’s easy to forget how important this is when the rest of the team are feeding kids sleeping on the streets in Calais, or Paris, and taking supplies to freezing small camps and to the children’s home at St Omer. But often at the welcome centres the refugees tell us that the fact we HAVEN”T forgotten them is as important as the aid we bring. There are many jobs we do and they all count.
The refugees in these centres have been there three months now. Life in the centres is very different to the camp. They rarely have interpreters and they miss the community that they used to know in the camp.
So if you have two or three days to spare and could do some driving in France please consider giving them a visit. We can give you plenty of things to take and we know they would love to see you. Get in touch with [email protected]. If you can stay and play cards, music, do some art or just talk to them it all helps.
