“We are always cold”

My parents named me Homeless as I was born just as my city was razed by bombs. I am now homeless again.
People complain that we come to their countries, but if you break an ant’s nest what will they do: spread out in search of somewhere safe.
All of us here in Dunkirk have had difficulties with our lives. If all you have experienced is war, war, war; when there is no hope … you need to find somewhere else.
We are not safe in France. I am here with my young brothers, aged 12 and 16. We were all taken off the train at the border and detained; given no food or water and told to go back to Italy.
We sleep in a camp in a tent. We are always cold.
We just want to live our dream like everyone else. Get an education; have a life free from war.
I want to be an actor.
